[Invited Review] Pearl Palace Chinese Restaurant

Up on a small hill near the Sungai Ara area, there is a country club by the name of Setia Pearl Island. This place is owned by a major construction company, SP Setia.

On the 1st floor of this building, there's a restaurant by the name of Pearl Palace. This restaurant serves Chinese food and also provides 8-course meals for wedding dinner. You can check their wedding packages menu, here.

When you enter the restaurant, there's a scenic night view of the Setia Pearl Island township. A perfect environment for family reunions and dinner. We are all impressed with the huge and old Ginseng displayed on the left of the restaurant entrance wall, which cost RM 200 000.

Food Promotions team would like to thank Jason & Gill for organizing a good dining experience for us at Pearl Palace. Among the dishes served, our recommendations are, the Fish Steamboat and dessert, double boiled aloe vela with red dates. Other than that, we have friendly and attentive waitress serving us while Chef Wong spent some time after the tasting section to hear our feedback and suggestions.

Canton-i Truly Hong Kong

We have heard of many positive comments on this Hong Kong restaurant and decided to dropped by. Canton-i is a restaurant which offers contemporary Hong Kong cuisine that came from the exchange of culture between East and the West.

Flower tea is a hand crafted tea in which edible flower are hand tied in a ball of tea leaves. When brewed in glass tea pot or cup, the flower slowly open giving a visible appearance of the blooming flower.

Clean and new. A refreshing place to dine.

Food Presentation: 8/10
Nicely crafted, Flowering Red Amaranth tea. Also if you order their Bao (dumplings), it has the shape of a cute piglet.

Portion: 6/10
Food served is good for a small eater.

Taste: 8/10
Taste is strong and delicious for their signature dishes. Specially recommend the Signature Prawn Wonton Noodles and also the Fried Turnip Cake with XO Sauce, RM 12.

Service: 7/10
Waiters are attentive to customers and refill hot water constantly for customers with tea.

Value for money: 6/10
Quite expensive for many restaurants in Penang are selling the same type of food with a competitive price.

OVERALL
A good place to dine if you want to have Chinese food, with a nice and clean environment.

Jade Blossom Super Saver Meal Review

During the previous visit to Jade Blossom Restaurant, I saw a banner on a super saver meal and decided to give it a try. This promotion is available during lunch and dinner.

We kick off with appetizer, Shanghai "Xiao Long Bao" RM8 for 5 pieces. The xiao long bao skin did not retain it's juice.

The Super Saver Meal RM9.80 consist of an Entree and a cup of Chilled Sugar Cane with Water Chestnut.

Crispy pancake skin on the outside and tasty layer of yam in the inside. Best consumed while it is hot.

A peaceful restaurant to have an enjoyable lunch or dinner. Many business elites are there during lunch time.

Food Presentation: 5/10
Simple and well arranged.

Portion: 6/10
Good enough for average eater. Portion looks similar with the banner.

Taste: 6.5/10
Taste is yummy and memorable.

Service: 8/10
The food is served within minutes. There are waiters pouring tea from time to time and clean plate and chopstick before the dessert.

Value for money: 8/10
Highly value for money if you compare with the ala carte menu.

OVERALL
A good dining experience. A few bucks more than fast food. Worth a try!

Father's Day at Jade Blossom Restaurant

For year 2009 Father's Day, we had a simple lunch at Jade Blossom Restaurant located at Crystal Point, Penang. This place is suitable for a family get together and offers delicious yet tempting Chinese cuisine.

Open room and spacious.

Food Presentation: 5/10
Just normal. Nothing creative or fancy.

Portion: 7/10
The are 3 sizes (small, medium or large) offered in the menu. The serving above is small portion.

Taste: 7/10
As a good start, we are able to smell the aroma when the dish was served. The taste of the dish really give in to the aroma too.

Service: 9/10
The waiters are well trained and attentive to the customers. This is shown as we requested that no sugar to be added in to the meal and it was prepared as we wanted. They even lift up the teapot gracefully from the table.

Value for money: 7/10
As a restaurant, the price is reasonable.

OVERALL
They have good food, environment and service, all the basic needs for a great dining. A highly recommended restaurant for Chinese cuisine finder.

[Invited Review] Ko Fu Loft, Gurney Plaza Penang

Ko Fu Loft is the newly renovated Hong Kong restaurant located at the 4th Level of Gurney Plaza, Penang over looking the beautiful blue sea and sky. Its a marvelous dining experience we had with a group of food bloggers. Thank you Criz for arranging this food review.

We shall not waste more time, let me introduce to you the foods that has been served to us.

First of all lets start with the appetizer, the Crystal Spring Roll Skin Stuff with Vege and Chicken Meat (RM 6.90). It has been nicely been wrapped and to be dip into Thai Chili sauce for serving.

Here comes the Ko Fu Sesame Seed Ball (RM 10.90). It has minced meat in it and been wrapped with sesame seed and nicely presented on spoon.

We shall move to the Main Course of the day, here comes the Jinglo Pork Ribs (RM 14.90). It well marinated and you are able to smell the nice aroma of the ribs when it is served.

Next we have the Deep Fried Homemade Bean Curd (RM 12.90). The bean curd has been fried till golden brown and served with some chilli sauce for dipping.

The most exciting dish goes to Szechuan Aromatic Duck (RM 18.90).

You are served with a plate of egg rolls for wrapping together with the duck meat and some vegetable. Its the time to see how creative you are. I find it fun that we are given the chance to wrap up our own food. Nice bonding session and some competition among the eaters to see how well is their final product. So how well can you wrap yours?

Another set of All in 1 Roasted Meat with Vegetable (RM 19.90). In this dish it has slices of mushroom, broccoli, prawn, siew bak, char siew, chicken and duck meat with some based of white cabbage.

Besides this it is served with a bowl of white rice, Kai Lan vegetable and some pickles.

In Ko Fu Loft, they do offer wide variety of Dim Sum. You should not miss this out when you dine there.
