Early Christmas Lunch at The Brasserie, Traders Hotel

"Santa Claus is coming to Town…" Month of December is around the corner. Thinking of where to celebrate Christmas with your beloved ones, family or friends?

The Brasserie Restaurant located at the Level 2 of Traders Hotel Penang is promoting “The Brasserie Executive Lunch & Chef Special” for month of December 2009.

This semi-buffet is available on Monday to Friday during lunch hour from 12pm to 2.30pm pricing at RM58 nett per person or RM88 nett per person for Chef’s Special. As for the festive offer, you may enjoy a free bottle of wine for every five dinners at the same table.

The Food Promotions team was invited for the food review in conjunction with the arrival of Christmas Day. Food reviewers as well as the reporters and journalists from the local press were honored to be invited as well.

Upon entering the Brasserie Restaurant, a wide variety of appetizers and desserts are served on semi-buffet greets you. The semi-buffet section consists of the appetizers and desserts.

Selection of main course will be rotated and refreshed every week. Here are the 4 types of main course that were served during the food tasting session.

Grilled Beef Tenderloin
with sun dried vegetables, roast potatoes and Bearnaise sauce.

Traditional Salmon Gratin
on a bed of mash potato, tomato relish and Dill de Blanc

Smoked Salmon Linguine
with baby romaine, bell peppers, olives and cherry tomato in extra virgin olive oil sauce

Roast Turkey
with sage stuffing, cranberry confit, giblet gravy, mash potato, cinnamon carrot and water chestnut

You also have a choice of upgrading the main course to any of the Chef’s Special such as roasted lamb loin and seafood pasta. Other Chef's Special that Brasserie have are:

Red Snapper Thermidor
with mashed potato, balsamic salad and Pernod sauce

Grilled Rack of Lamb
with shepherd pie, buttered vegetables and mustard sauce

Tournedos Dijon
Grilled fillet of beef with galliano mushroom ragout, apple risotto and mustard sauce

Seafood Pasta Aglio-olio
with bell peppers, olives and cherry tomato in extra virgin olive oil sauce

Desserts

This section attracted us the most as there are varieties of colorful, cute and tempting cakes. The chef even served Christmas Themed Cakes.

After the meal, a complimentary drink of either coffee or tea will be served.

When it comes to Christmas party and celebration, many of you will be looking for roast turkey.

At the end of the warm early Christmas lunch, Eileen, our host surprised us with 2 cute cupcakes each as a token of appreciation. This sweet little Christmas Cupcakes are sold at RM15 for two pieces.

Dave's Deli 30% Off all Meals Review

Dave's Deli is having a 30% off all meals promotion from every Monday to Thursday. This restaurant was recommended by many, and looking at the affordable price, we dropped by for lunch for a review. During my last visit, I had the sandwich and did not forget the tasty turkey ham.

Their famous Dave's Quarter Roast Chicken is delicious, while some also like the Schnitzel deep fried chicken fillet which was served together with the mushroom base gravy. The Footlong chicken sausage was rather salty, while Fish & Chips was ordinary.

Service: 7/10
Waiter and waitresses were busy on the 30% off promotion period, nevertheless trying to serve us well.

Value for money: 8/10
Looking at the long queue during lunch time, the RM 10 complete quarter roasted chicken meal at Dave's Deli? Great value!

[Invited Review] 75 °C Restaurant and Bar

An afternoon was set by Ken for Floggers and food enthusiasts to be WOW and introduced to what 75 Celsius has to offer. Weather was fine and the view to sea was particularly good on a Saturday afternoon.

75’s menu has many choices to offer but has limited pictures was the down side of it.

This place was in a bistro setting called Restaurant and Bar. A place to visit if you prefer some cocktails or alcoholic drinks to go with some munchies or even dinner or lunch.

It's a good place to be if you like varieties of music. You will be served with house, hip hop, native, new age and jazz as well.

We are introduced to a large variety of drinks and food. Here are some to share.

Almost all the food presented are similar to each other. The one thing is the food are all prepared fast and clean.

Recommended dishes are the Hamburger Delight and Ribeye Steak. They tasted good for the price offered. For drinks, our personal favorite are the Bailey's Milk Shake and Green Tea Special.

Service: 7/10
Waiters are attentive to customers and also helpful.

Value for money: 6.5/10
Reasonable priced bites.
