Go Japin for Farewell Dinner

Another farewell, this time it was at Japin, Level 2, Queensbay Mall Penang.

They offer extensive varieties in the menu from ala carte to set meals and choices of rice or noodles. Let's move on and have a look on the meals we ordered:

Quiet, comfortable and quite relaxing.

Food Presentation: 5/10
The presentation simple, neat and clean.

Portion: 6/10
Filling for average eater. The fried chicken is huge.

Taste: 4/10
Just so so and would only say acceptable.

Service: 6/10
There were few waitress, one were attentive to us.

Value for money: 4.5/10
Oishii Promotion Ramen RM7.90 is worth it. For the rest, generally not worth it for the taste, although the portion is enough for one.

OVERALL
In the nut shell, experience in Japin is just average for the all the factors above. Japin do offers wide varieties of food. You can have a decent meal there but do not expect anything fancy.

A&W 45 Grand Celebration Promotion Review

Last weekend during tea time, I thought it would be good to check out the A&W 45 Anniversary Promotion.

Two cups of Root Beer RM 4.50 (Normal Price: 5.20)

This is the first thing we ordered. Something which can quench our thirst after the whole shopping day. From this promotion, we saved around 70 cents before tax.

Waffle with Single Scoop Ice Cream RM 5.90

Our second order as a snack. This is not in the 45 Anniversary promotions. I like the A&W waffle for it is served hot and with and ice cream topping!

Environment: 6/10
A place for kid's party. It's not exactly clean, but have the Most Well Managed award.

Food Presentation: 6/10
Normal presentation for fast food.

Portion: 7/10
Portion of food is comparable to all fast food.

Taste: 7/10
A&W root beer is special compared to all other fast food soft drinks. It's good. I also like their curly fries and waffle.

Service: 5/10
Very slow, especially at the Gurney Plaza, Penang branch.

Value for money: 5/10
This 45 Anniversary Promotion is value for money. Also note that there will be a 5% Govt tax.

OVERALL
Choice of burgers are limited. But the side dishes such as the curly fries and waffle is good for a tea break.

Breeks Cafe & ZingDo Under 1 Roof

It was our first visit to Breeks cafe last Sunday.

If you don't know, ZingDo has now merged under one roof together with with Breeks Cafe for it's from the same company. Previously, ZingDo was located at Ground Floor, Gurney Plaza.

Both Breeks Cafe and ZingDo serves different type of cuisine. Breeks Cafe is Western while ZingDo is serving Korean fast food.

ZingDo having a promotion recently, so we decided to check it out for a tea break.

A very cozy and comfortable cafe to hang out.

For Muslim friends, this restaurant is certified halal.

We started off by ordering from ZingDo menu.

This complimentary Iced Lemon Tea can be redeem with the flyer when you order any ZingDo meal. Flyers can be collected from the Breeks Cafe counter.

Chicken Kimchi Ramen RM 10.90

The Zing-Do meal we ordered. This Chicken Kimchi Mee would taste better if more kimchi is added into the soup.

Next order from Breeks Cafe menu. Let's take a peep and see what else is there to order in this place.

The list of drinks look interesting and suitable for tea time. We ordered a chilled drink from Breeks Cafe menu.

Muddy Choco RM 8.90

Muddy Choco from the Iced Premium Blended range. This ice blended chocolate drink, is a mixture of chocolate flavored drink and some almond nuts grind together. Topped with whipped cream and Milo, my all time favorite drink to complete this drink.

We decided to go for a dessert for the afternoon, and choose the Brownies with warm cheese sauce, something we never had before.

Brownies with warm cheese sauce RM 7.50

The brownie is topped with cream cheese, tasted a little to the sour. Sweet desserts don't go well with the sour cheese. I guess the Brownies with Vanilla ice cream would taste better than this cheese brownie.

We asked on the cheese they use as the topping, and the waiter is kind enough to give us a slice of cheese (before melted) to try. Yummy...

Environment: 7/10
We love this place, for it is clean, quiet and spacious. You will have your privacy with your friends or loved ones.

Food Presentation: 6/10
Simple but well presented.

Portion: 6/10
Portion served for a person is good enough. For big eater, you might need more.

Taste: 6/10
Mild, averagely good and acceptable.

Service: 7/10
Friendly waitress and attentive. They also seldom disturb the customers.

Value for money: 6.5/10
ZingDo set meal is worth to try out, while Breeks Cafe food is a little more expensive than ZingDo.

OVERALL
It's a nice place to hang out and catch up with old time buddies. I would recommend this place if you love soothing music and a peaceful mind.
