[Invited] Launching of Taste of Taiwan, Traders Hotel Penang

Thinking about Taiwan? Craving for Taiwanese Cuisine?

Head down to The Islander Restaurant located at Level 1 at Trades Hotel Penang. The restaurant is promoting "The Taste of Taiwan" from 30 May 2009 to 14 June 2009. A wide variety to Taiwanese favourites is available daily during lunch and dinner buffet spread.

Lunch hours are from 12.00 noon to 2.30pm (RM 47.00 nett per adult, RM 23.50 nett per child)

Dinner is from 6.00pm to 9.30pm (RM 68.00 nett per adult, RM 34.00 nett per child)

The event started off sharp at 6.00pm with the opening speech by YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, our dearly Penang State Tourism Development, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee Chairman.

In conjunction of Taste of Taiwan, two special guests from Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza, Taipei was here in Malaysia to showcase their skills in whipping up tantalizing Taiwanese meals. We have Chef Bia Wang the Senior Sous Chef that specialises in Taiwanese cuisine. Where else, Chef Li Chi-Cheng is known as Wok Chef that is expert in Cantonese cuisine and specialises in signature wok-fried Taiwanese dishes.

Alright, lets focus on food. The main highlight of the night would be the famous Taiwanese Beef Noodles Soup. Whats more besides this to make up truly taiwanse cuisine. Besides that, they so serves Deep Fried Fu Rong Tofu, marinated jellyfish with abalone and Danzai noodles.

These are the top 5 famous dishes from Taiwan. From the above we have Steamed Assorted Egg and 3 combination of eggs that is egg white, century egg and salted egg at the top left. And in the bottom of right corner, that is the Marinated Jelly Fish with Abalone.

As for the dessert would be the spring roll skin wrap with ice cream of your choice and coriander with some sprinkle of crushed peanuts.

[Invited Review] Te Chang You Tiao Wang

It's a sunny afternoon where Criz Lai hosted a Floggers' street food review that our team attended. Thanks to Criz, we are exposed to the delicious chinese snack, the special You Tiao.

'You Tiao' in English is known as Chinese Cruller or Fried Bread Stick.

As their stall name says: Te Chang You Tiao Wang! They have the looongest You Tiao ever in Malaysia, 14" long!
